In this week’s episode we’re going to be answering the question: where should I host my website?
I get asked this question a lot, and I know there is a ton of opinions about who the best website host is, but my strong recommend is that you host your website with WPEngine.

There’s a number of reasons why I recommend you host with WPEngine over all the other options out there, the first one being that they have a built-in account permission system.

What that means is that as the business owner you can add somebody as a user to your account, assign them whatever access you want, and at any point if you want to revoke that access, you can just click a button and revoke that access. I’ve heard countless horror stories where a business owner will hand over the credentials to their website server to a developer or somebody and the developer changes the username and password. The business owner gets locked out of their server. They can’t manage their website anymore.

WPEngine allows you to, as a business owner, set up your own account and only assign people that only need to have access, but at no point do you ever have the turn over your master username and password so that you never have to worry about losing access to your site. That’s a big one and a big business goal, is to never have to worry about losing access to your website.

Number two: they do daily backups for you. Now if you were on a host like, say, Amazon S3, they just give you the space and you have to manage your site on your own. If something happened to a file or maybe your website got hacked, if you didn’t have a backup of your most current version of your site, you’d be out of luck. WPEngine does those daily backups for you, and at any point if something happens to your website, you can restore from one of those daily backups.

Number three: they do security patching for you. I get notifications all the time that some plugin or maybe WordPress Core got out of date, there’s been an update, and they send me a notification that says, We’ve updated your site to the most current version.” Again, if you were on another host that made you manage all of those updates on your own, something could get really out of date, might have a vulnerability, and your website could get hacked and potentially go down. WPEngine rolls out those security patches for you.

Number four, and is a big benefit of going with WPEngine, is that they do a lot of the performance requirements for you. They do all sorts of caching, which don’t worry about the technical aspect of it. That’s what helps your website load super fast for visitors. The reason that’s important, besides just having a good user experience, is Google takes site speed into account as a ranking factor. If your site loads really slowly, they’re going to degrade how well it ranks in the search engines. They help you load your site super quickly, to have a great user experience, and also rank better in the search engines.

Number five, and this really helps developers or the people that are working on your site, is that they have a built-in development environment in the account already set up and ready to go. With a click of a button you can copy your entire live site to a development server and do all the testing and updates on that development server. If you want to try something, maybe modify a portion of your site, you don’t have to mess with the live site, the site that people are going to on a regular basis. You can do it on a development site, and as soon as it’s ready, as soon as you like it, you can click a button and push it back to the live version. It makes it really easy to do modifications and updates because all that is just built in, it’s very seamless.

Number six is that they have great support. I’ve never had an issue that hasn’t been able to be solved on the first time, either first call or the first chat with their support department.

Those are six reasons why I really like working with WPEngine. I highly recommend them. I use them for a lot of my websites. If you want to sign up, you can go through leadcadence.com/wpengine. I do earn a small commission if you sign up through that link but I recommend them because I think they’re great and they do a wonderful job hosting your site, as well as all the great features that I just mentioned. Again, that’s leadcadence.com/wpengine. I’m sure you’ll be very happy with it. That’s all for now. I hope you liked this video. Leave me a comment below. Let me know what you think.
